Arts and Scraps Wearable Art
Explore different materials, crafts, and methods to come up with various wearable arts– bracelets, necklaces, headdresses, face masks… Can’t wait to see what they come up with!
Students learn to design casual clothes, formal gowns, bathing suits, etc. and learn about fabric, necklines, and the signature styles of some famous designers. (No sewing!) Each child will create a portfolio of her/his own designs on paper. Each cycle concludes with a portfolio party and fashion show where students enjoy refreshments and have the opportunity to share their work.
Knitting and Crocheting
Students will learn the basics of knitting and crocheting. This cycle, students will make dolls representing different countries around the world, such as “Worry Dolls” from Guatemala and Mexico and felt “Wish Baby” pins.
Drawing and Cartooning
Learn the steps to draw your own characters and how to tell a story in the comic format. This will be a fun and exciting class for anyone interested in art and storytelling. At the end of the cycle, comics are printed in a class anthology.
