The Arts and Athletics Inc faculty comprises an immensely talented array of instructors, including visual artists, writers, athletes, dancers, and musicians. In our ongoing quest to connect the students in our community with the most talented and accomplished adults, we have also strived to play a role in supporting and promoting the arts.
In an effort to expand that role and to celebrate the amazing individuals teaching our children, we have launched this “Faculty Performances” page. Here we will publicize a curated list of faculty events featuring afterschool personnel so that parents, fellow teachers, and others in our school communities might attend. For select events, Arts and Athletics will add an afterschool promotion, incentivizing parent attendance by offering a credit toward afterschool tuition.
Afterschool Tuition Credit: Minton’s Playhouse (Mintons): Each Saturday night in February and March 2024, the historic Minton’s jazz venue on 118th Street and Adam Clayton Powell is featuring Arts and Athletics musicians. Aris Dolce is playing alto sax with the JC Hopkins Biggish Band (from approximately 8pm to 10pm) followed by the late night jam session (11pm to 3am) hosted by Kevin Oliver Jr and featuring several other afterschool instrumental music teachers…recently Jarien Jamanila, Camilo Molina, and Chris Garriga. Those parents who attend one of these Saturday evenings can submit any proof of attendance and receive $50 of their afterschool bill. (Limit one credit per family per cycle.)
