Each week the campers will brainstorm ideas for a new show, developing characters, learning songs and dance steps, and performing at the end of the weeks for family and friends.

Arts and Athletics Summer Camp at PS 9 focuses on Performing Arts: planning, writing, rehearsing and performing an original show each Friday afternoon throughout the summer.

CAMPERS ENTERING GRADES THREE THROUGH SIX ARE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND. (Click Here for our Lil’ Explorers Junior Camp).
All campers will have opportunities for physical activity, field trips, and lots of summer fun!

CORE INSTRUCTION is the musical theater part of the day. Jeff Edmond, our theater director, works with our kids to write, rehearse and perform a new show each week. On Monday, they start with a fresh idea. Jeff does a great job of coaxing the story ideas from the kids’ imaginations! He will then work their ideas into a script for a real show for friends and family to be performed on Friday afternoon!

SPORTS, PLAY, AND TRIPS
In addition to music and theater, and other physical activities, campers will daily take trips to Central Park or Riverside Park, and will cool off once a week with a trip to the sprinklers in Riverbank State Park or Sheltering Arms City Park.
